Today, March 30th, 2016 is National Doctors Day, and SleepQuest would like to thank and honor all of the physicians who have dedicated their lives to keeping us healthy.

These men and women are calmly by our sides during some of our most difficult moments. They are there to educate, diagnose, treat and encourage each of us when overcoming our individual healthcare challenges.

Therefore, today and every day, we are thankful and grateful for their long hours and personal dedication toward caring for each of us and our loved ones.

The History of National Doctors Day:

The date for National Doctors Day was picked for the first ether anesthetic surgery, performed by Crawford W. Long, on March 30th in 1842. The operation was to remove a tumor from a man’s neck and when the man woke from it, he did not feel or remember a thing. It was not until March 30th, 1933 that National Doctors Day was observed; Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, wanted a day to honor physicians. President George Bush proclaimed National Doctors Day in 1991.
