Winding Down Sleep Awareness Week with a Little Meditation

It’s 12:37am and your brain is buzzing. How am I going to finish that project tomorrow? Did I wash that blue shirt today?  We’re all out of milk. If your brain is keeping you up at night, then it might be time to take a look at how to quite your mind and get some quality rest.

Meditation, a mind quieting practice, is a great way to help fight insomnia. Incorporating meditation into your daily life not only reduces overall stress, but can also make it easier to relax your mind when it’s time to sleep. The changes that happen to your body when you meditate are similar to the early stages of sleep; your pulse slows, blood pressure drops, and stress hormones decrease.

There are several different types of meditations:

Mindfulness Meditation

Concentration Meditation

Guided Meditation
