Your device is waking you up at night with a wheezing sound.
First you should check to make sure that your hose and humidifier chamber are both connected correctly to the device. If something is loose or not completely connected, it could be the source of the wheezing noise.
When was the last time you cleaned or replaced your filters? If it’s been longer than a month and you’re using the device every night, then that could be the cause of the problem. Over time filters can get clogged with dust and dander, causing the device to make a wheezing noise.
We recommend replacing your disposable filters at least once a month, but depending on your environment you may need to replace them twice a month. If your device has a washable filter, it is recommended to clean it once a week. Keeping your filters clean ensures that you’re getting optimum results from your PAP device.
If you have already tried all of the above and your device is still making a wheezing noise, we recommend that you contact your Sleep Care Specialist and schedule an appointment to have your device looked at.
We hope you found this information helpful. Check back next month for a new PAP therapy tip.
