In primary care medical practice, the most common complaint made by obstructive sleep apnea patients is chronic fatigue. Whenever someone complains of being “tired all the time,” it should be assumed that this is synonymous with chronic excessive sleepiness until proven otherwise. Furthermore, it should always be assumed until proven otherwise that obstructive sleep apnea is the cause of chronic excessive sleepiness.
