Bay Area Sleep Care Firm Expands to San Joaquin Valley High Demand for Home-Centered Sleep Disorders Treatment Results in Expansion to Fresno First Satellite Office (Atherton, CA) SleepQuest(SM), Inc. of Atherton has opened its first satellite office in Fresno to provide quality home care for patients with sleep disorders. "Because of the expanding demand for our home-centered sleep care services by HMO's and physicians in Fresno and the greater valley, we decided it made good business sense to open a facility here," according to Robert Koenigsberg, President/CEO of SleepQuest. Fresno E.N.T. specialist, Albert J. Rocha, M.D., concurs with the move, "I've been utilizing SleepQuest's unique, in-home services for the last two to three years and have been most pleased with their dedication to treating patients in their homes, their ratio of licensed therapists to patients, and with their high levels of successful treatment." SleepQuest Provides Sleep Care Equipment and Home Care Services In business since 1994, SleepQuest provides sleep care equipment and home care services primarily for patients with the health-and-life-threatening condition, Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). OSA affects approximately 24% of all men and 9% of all women (or about 20 million people in the U.S.), according to the New England Journal of Medicine (April 1993). People at any age are susceptible to OSA and its negative effects on health, productivity, relationships, quality of life, and even life itself. Most-Effective Treatment Program SleepQuest, through its many licensed Respiratory Care Specialists, provides a most-effective treatment program for patients with OSA in the convenience of patients' homes with significant cost-savings over hospital-based treatment programs. Patients who are diagnosed with OSA are connected to a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine during sleep. The device, once properly adjusted by the therapist, provides constant air pressure that relieves the OSA symptoms and restores quality of life and health for sleep-deprived individuals. Recent Study In a recent study with a Bay Area provider, SleepQuest's success (or compliance) rate in treating patients with this problem was 93%, as compared with an estimated industry average of 41%, according to Koenigsberg. "Our extremely high compliance rate is primarily due to the proactive support our licensed therapists extend to our patients in their homes by carefully monitoring all their patients and educating them about the importance and usage of the CPAP machine." Lesley Smith, Alan Tabor, and Debbie Cantu The Fresno office has initially staffed two respiratory therapists, Regional Coordinator, Lesley Smith, R.C.P., and Alan Tabor, R.C.P. Debbie Cantu, also a licensed therapist, will function primarily as a Business Development Liaison for SleepQuest. All three are Valley residents. They can be reached at (209) 244-4229. The office is located at 2495 W. Shaw Avenue in the Fresno facilities of another Bay Area Care Provider, Pacific Health Alliance. PHA President, Lawrence Cappel, Ph.D., says "I've had nothing but positive experience with SleepQuest for our insureds and that's why I invited Robert to join us at our Fresno location." Sante Health Systems of Fresno In addition to contracts with PHA, SleepQuest is also contracted with Sante Health Systems of Fresno to provide sleep testing and treatment equipment. Koenigsberg anticipates other contracts serving clients "....from Modesto to Bakersfield."
